Therapists

Finding a therapist you feel at ease with is an important part of the therapeutic process and in recognition of this a free initial 45 minute meeting is offered. This gives us both the opportunity to meet and to explore what you are looking for in considering therapy.
Lucy Melluish

Lucy Melluish: Psychotherapy in Truro

The sessions I offer provide a safe holding space where we will jointly explore issues that have become overwhelming, and may have manifested in anxiety, depression or crisis. Through working with compassion and presence, we can discover deep and genuine connection to your resources which will support you as your life becomes more meaningful.

My own path has been in music as I trained at the Royal Academy of Music. In 1988 I qualified in Music Therapy at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I am HCPC registered and have experience of working in child, adolescence, and adult mental health in the NHS. I have an MA in Core Process Psychotherapy, am fully accredited with the UKCP and am a member of the ACPP.

I am a mother of grown-up children and have a deep connection to the natural world. I am curious in the nature of relationship and how mindfulness and a developing sense of awareness can lighten our life journey.

Mark Bowen

Mark Bowen: Psychotherapy in Devoran

I experienced a sporting injury as a teenager which changed the course of my life in a moment. Over time as I sought to meet these new challenges, I became aware that my coping strategies were no longer working for me and I began my own therapeutic journey.

Having had a very positive experience of talking therapy I decided to study for my Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling. During my training I worked with clients in various stages of their recovery from substance misuse and since qualifying I have worked primarily with victims of childhood and adult sexual violence.

I have a Diploma in Relational Mindfulness at the Karuna Institute where I have also completed a Masters in Mindfulness Based Psychotherapeutic Practice and I’m now working towards accreditation with the UKCP.

I believe that humans are fundamentally relational creatures, we are born out of and into relationships, with the physical world around us and with other human beings. I seek to offer a safe space in which we can explore your relationships to the people in your life, the world around you and yourself.

Susanna Hoare

Susanna Hoare: Psychotherapy in Truro

My aim is to provide support so that you can explore at your own pace what you are finding difficult in a warm safe non-judgmental environment by giving you respectful attention to your deepest feelings and needs. As issues are understood more fully you may feel less alone with them. Supported exploration may help you understand yourself, your thoughts, beliefs, feelings and relationships in a deeper way leading to more choices and a greater sense of connection with others and yourself and to well-being.

I am an experienced Core Process Psychotherapist offering individual psychotherapy. My approach to working relationally comes from my training which integrates western psychological theory, mindfulness and compassion practices.

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist I worked for 18 years within addiction services. I have also completed specialist diploma training in working with Boarding School Syndrome and have a Master’s Degree in Core Process Psychotherapy and am fully accredited and registered with the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists (UKCP).

Kay Parkinson

Kay Parkinson: Psychotherapy in Penzance

I am a fully qualified and accredited psychotherapist with a Masters Degree in Core Process Psychotherapy. My professional life has been dedicated to listening to people.

For many years, I worked as a Social Researcher, specializing in interviewing, writing and teaching in the field of health. In 2000, my passion for people’s stories led me to the Karuna Institute where I deepened my understanding of contemplative approaches to health and wellbeing.

After several years in the NHS, I am now working from a small private practice in Penzance. I offer individual adult psychotherapy for brief or longer term work. I am happy to work with all that life and death brings, but am particularly interested in working at thresholds, and the creative potential within them. I offer specialised work around the transitions of childbirth, grief and trauma. I have enjoyed a personal meditation practice for almost 20 years, and regularly attend retreats.

I am an experienced Core Process Psychotherapist offering adult psychotherapy and professional supervision. I undertake work with individuals and couples.

I have nearly 20 years’ experience working within the NHS and in Private Practice. My public sector work includes Bereavement Counselling at Derriford Hospital, Primary Care counselling in GP Surgeries, staff counselling for RCHT and parent counselling for Child and Family Services.
